Oyo Government Trains 62 Secretarial Assistants, Preaches Efficiency at Duty Posts

Oyo State Government has trained 62 Secretarial Assistants in the State’s civil and public service to promote quality and efficient service delivery at work, calling on the workers to always have faith in the administration and put in the best at their duty posts.

The Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye made this known during the closing ceremony of a six month mandatory career advancement course for Secretarial Assistants in the State civil and public service held on Wednesday, at the Simeon Adebo Staff Development Center, Secretariat, Ibadan.

According to Barr. Olaleye, the laudable achievements of Gov. Seyi Makinde within 100 days in office in all facets of human endeavours have kept on lingering in the hearts of the people which he said could be seen through the increase of approved gratuity from #100 million to #180 million on his assumption of office.

The Commissioner further pointed to prompt and regular payment of workers’ salary, organization of interactive sessions with civil servants and general overhauling of education system in the public schools as areas in which the Governor has shown that he has the interest of workers at heart.

“This workshop for Secretarial Assistant’s cadre was organized to improve the capacity of an average participant and widen their horizon on the needs of their offices in relation to their day-to-day office duties.

“The present administration is interested in improving the quality of each worker’s input to governance through their offices and this training will go a long way to assist them to prove their worth at their duty posts and even after their service years.

“The Governor promised upward review of benefits due to workers and pay their salaries as at when due, these are seen manifesting already, before long, new hands will join the workforce as proclaimed by the Governor recently in the education and health sector, it goes a long way to show that the Governor has everybody’s interest at heart.”

The Commissioner advised the participants drawn from all over the State to make the best use of the opportunity so that at the end of the exercise, they would have acquired advanced technological skills in office automation, better communication and organizational skills as well as attitudinal change for better service delivery.
