Ministry of Information and Mass Mobilization

The Ministry was originally known as Ministry of Information, Youths, Sports and Culture. A law was later passed and the edict No 10 of 2003 was assented to on the 12th day of September, 2003 by the then Executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. The State Government later abolished the erstwhile Ministry and the nomenclature was changed to the Ministry of Information and Culture.

The present administration under the leadership of Senator Abiola Ajimobi changed the name of the Ministry to “Ministry of Information and Orientation’’ during its first tenure between 2011 to 2015.

In the year 2015, when Governor Ajimobi was re-elected as the Governor of Oyo State, he restructured the Civil Service of Oyo State by pruning down the number of Ministries.  The Ministry’s name was then changed to the “Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism”.

The Ministry has the mandate for the supervision of the following parastatals;

  • Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State.
  • Oyo State Government Printing Press.
  • Oyo State Council for Arts and Culture.
  • Any other parastatal or agency that may be brought under its supervision by the government.
